A custom home built by JSR Construction at dusk

Tallahassee · Florida

Homes built to be lived in, not just sold.

A husband-and-wife team building custom homes and full-scale remodels across Tallahassee and the Florida Big Bend — design and construction, both of us, start to finish.

Big BendWhere we build

Two ways in

Start where you actually are.

A kitchen gut and a ground-up build are completely different conversations. So we split them. Pick the one that fits and answer a handful of questions — mostly taps, almost no typing.

By the time we walk your property, we already know your budget range, your timeline, and the finish level you have in mind. No wasted visit, no guessing.

Jared & Stacey

Two of us. Both of us, the whole way.

We're a husband-and-wife team. Jared runs the construction, Stacey runs the design, and neither of us hands you off to a stranger halfway through.

It starts with sitting down and actually interviewing you — how you live, what you're drawn to, what you can't stand. Out of that comes a home that's genuinely yours instead of the plan we happened to have on the shelf.

You're in the design process from the first conversation to the last light fixture. Not consulted once and updated at closing.

More about how we work

You'll see us on site

Not a project manager you've never met. We're hands-on builders — we're at your house, in the middle of it, the whole way through.

We answer

Call or text. You're not filing a ticket and waiting three days to hear back from someone reading a file.

Design that's actually yours

Stacey walks you through finishes, materials and the small accents that make a house stop looking like every other new build on the street.

Why it matters

We also hold the keys to what we build.

Most of the homes in our own rental portfolio were built by this crew. When you live with your own framing decisions for a decade, you stop cutting corners on them.

Owner-builders, not middlemen

You're talking to the people making the call, not a coordinator relaying it.

Specs priced honestly

Three clear finish levels instead of a vague number that balloons later. You know what vinyl versus Hardie actually costs before we start.

Build and remodel under one roof

The same crew that frames a new house can open up a wall in a 1970s ranch — and takes the occasional commercial job when it fits.

How it goes

Four steps, no mystery.

  1. You tell us the shape of it

Two minutes on the questionnaire. What you want, roughly what you want to spend, and how fast you want to move.

  2. We come look

We walk the property or the space with your answers already in hand, and tell you honestly what is and isn't realistic.

  3. You get a real number

A scoped estimate tied to a specific finish level — not a range that quietly doubles at drywall.

  4. We build it

Owner-led from footing to final walkthrough, with one person you can actually reach.

Common questions

Before you call.

What areas do you serve?

Tallahassee and the Florida Big Bend — Tallahassee, Leon County, Crawfordville, Wakulla County, Havana, Quincy and the surrounding communities. If you're just outside that, call and ask.

Do you build custom homes, or only remodel?

Both. New construction from the ground up, and full remodels, additions, kitchens and baths. Different questionnaires, same crew.

Do you take commercial work?

Yes, but it's a small part of what we do. The bulk of our work is residential — custom homes, remodels and additions. We take commercial projects and build-outs when they're a good fit, so give us a call and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right crew for it.

Do I need to own land already?

No. A lot of people start without a lot. Tell us on the questionnaire whether you own property, are still looking, or are working with a realtor — that changes how we plan and price the project, so it matters early.

How long does an estimate take?

After we walk the project. The questionnaire is what gets us to that walkthrough fast, already knowing your budget range and finish level.

What if I don't know my budget yet?

Say so — "not sure yet" is one of the choices. We'd rather have an honest unknown than a number you made up to sound reasonable.

Tell us what you're building.

Two minutes, mostly multiple choice. Then we come look at it.
